S.118.15 Allows parents to pre-excuse their child for up to ten (10) days during the school year. It is the responsibility of the parent to determine which learning experiences shall supersede attendance at school. Every time a student misses a class he/she is placed in a less advantageous position to meet objectives of the lessons missed.
In order that the school meets its obligation for student accountability and that students can effectively compensate for lessons missed, our policy requires a minimum of two days notice prior to the absence. This two day period
allows (1) parents to make a written request for absence for their son/daughter; (2) teachers to be informed so
they can discuss lessons which will be missed and advisability of such an absence at a specific time; and (3) the office to keep accurate records of attendance.
The student must take responsibility for requesting assignments from teachers, doing the make up work,
etc.
Ordinarily assignments are to be completed prior to the absence.
